Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about your journey to Germany with EuropeCareers.
General Information
What is EuropeCareers and how do you help?
EuropeCareers is a premier transnational consultancy connecting skilled Indian professionals with top-tier opportunities in the Federal Republic of Germany. Guided by our expert core management team, we provide end-to-end assistance. From profile evaluation and German language training to interview preparation, document recognition (Anerkennung), and visa processing, we guide you at every step. We operate out of offices in India (Kanpur, Bangalore, Siliguri) and Germany (Lügde, Bad Pyrmont, München).
Which professions do you primarily recruit for?
Our strongest network in Germany is within the healthcare and medical sectors. We actively recruit Doctors, Nurses, Physiotherapists, and Operation Theatre (OT) Assistants. Additionally, we facilitate vocational training enrollments for young candidates through the German Ausbildung programs, and assist skilled professionals across various domains with the Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card).
Healthcare Professionals (Doctors & Nurses)
What is the "Anerkennung" (Recognition) process?
To work in the German healthcare system, your Indian medical or nursing degree must be officially recognized by the German state authorities. This process compares your Indian curriculum with the German standard. If there is a deficit, you will receive a "Defizitbescheid" (Deficit Notice), after which you must complete a preparatory course and pass a knowledge test (Kenntnisprüfung) in Germany to get your full professional license (Approbation/Urkunde).
Do I need to speak German to work as a Nurse or Doctor?
Yes, absolutely. The German healthcare system requires direct patient interaction. For Nurses, Physiotherapists, and OT Assistants, a certified B1 or B2 level (from Goethe-Institut, TELC, or ÖSD) is mandatory. Doctors are required to achieve a B2/C1 level and must clear the specialized Medical German exam (Fachsprachenprüfung) in Germany.
Ausbildung (Vocational Training)
What exactly is an Ausbildung in Germany?
An Ausbildung is a dual vocational training program unique to Germany. It combines theoretical classroom learning at a vocational school (Berufsschule) with practical, on-the-job training at a German company or hospital. The program usually lasts 3 years, and upon completion, you receive a highly respected German qualification.
Will I get paid during my Ausbildung?
Yes! One of the biggest advantages of the dual Ausbildung system is that you earn a monthly stipend (Ausbildungsvergütung) right from the first month. The stipend varies depending on the industry and the region (e.g., Nursing Ausbildung generally pays very well), which helps cover your living expenses in Germany.
Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card)
What is the Chancenkarte and who is it for?
The Chancenkarte is a new point-based visa system introduced by Germany to attract skilled workers from outside the EU. It allows you to enter Germany for up to one year specifically to search for a job. During this time, you are also permitted to work part-time to support yourself.
How does the points system work for the Chancenkarte?
You need a minimum of 6 points to qualify (unless your degree is fully recognized in Germany, which bypasses the points requirement). Points are awarded based on criteria such as:
- Recognition of your foreign qualifications.
- German and English language proficiency.
- Relevant professional experience.
- Age (younger candidates get more points).
- Previous stays in Germany.
Timelines & Language Training
How long does the entire process take?
The timeline varies significantly depending on your starting point. If you already possess a B2 German certificate, the placement, recognition application, and visa process can take anywhere from 4 to 8 months. If you are starting your German language training from level A1, you should expect the total journey to take 12 to 18 months.
Do you provide German Language Courses?
Yes, we do. EuropeCareers offers structured German language training designed specifically for professionals aiming to clear standard examinations. We periodically offer special batches to help you achieve your A1 to B2 certification efficiently.
