The Licensing Process
(Anerkennung)

To work in German OTs and ICUs, your home country degree (BSc OTT / Diploma) must be converted into a German state license. We handle this legal A-Z process.

1

Language Requirement

You must clear Goethe/Telc B1 or B2 level German (depending on the federal state). We provide expert linguistic coaching.

2

Defizitbescheid (Document Audit)

We submit your academic and clinical experience documents. The health authority evaluates them and issues a notice outlining any clinical gaps.

3

Anpassungslehrgang (Adaptation)

You travel to Germany and work as a paid Assistant Tech in a hospital for 3–6 months to complete the practical requirements.

4

Berufsurkunde (State License)

Once adaptation is complete, you receive your permanent license, confirming you as a recognized OTA/ATA with full salary benefits.

OT and ICU roles involve critical hours. German labor laws (TVöD) strictly reward this with high base salaries and exceptional tax-free shift allowances.
